Mainframe Escape
Last updated 14 October 2026. This covers the game Mainframe Escape on Windows, from the Microsoft Store and from itch.io.
The short version
The game has no accounts, no ads and no purchases. It does not ask for your name, email or anything else about you. It can send anonymous playtest reports so I can find bugs and balance the game, and you can turn that off in Settings.
What the game sends
Playtest reports. When reports are on, the game sends:
- a random ID made when the game is installed, and one for each time you start it, so reports from the same copy can be grouped. It is not tied to you or your Microsoft account;
- the game's version and how each run went: the level and floor reached, time played, what ended it, the weapon and parts used, frame rate;
- your computer's basic specs: processor, graphics card, memory, Windows version, screen size, whether a controller is plugged in, and the language setting;
- errors the game logged, so crashes can be fixed.
Bug reports. If you press F8 and send a bug report, the game sends what you typed, a screenshot of the game's own window and the same details as above. Only the game's window is captured, never your desktop or other programs. A bug report is only sent when you choose to send one, even with playtest reports turned off.
Where you are, roughly. The server notes the country and region your connection comes from. Your IP address itself is not stored.
The game does not read your files, other programs or anything outside its own save folder.
Where it goes and who sees it
Reports go over HTTPS to playtest.tiltedlem.com, which runs on Cloudflare, and are stored there. Only I read them. They are used to fix bugs and balance the game, never for advertising, and never sold or shared with anyone else.
Your saves and settings stay on your computer.
Turning it off
In the game, open Settings and switch off Send playtest reports. Nothing is sent after that except a bug report you choose to send.
Keeping and deleting
Reports are kept while the game is in development. To have your reports deleted, email me with the date and roughly what time you played or sent the report, and I will remove them.
Children
The game does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The reports above hold nothing that identifies a person.
